In case you're interested, Part 1 is below

Rebiechowo (Gdansk) approach gave us Rwy 29 for landing which would almost have taken us straight in but before I asked for permission to land, Viktor asked if I'd ever been to Gdansk before. When I said no, he called up Approach and I found out afterwards he asked a pal if we could take the tour. So he took over and we began a pretty sharp descent to get under the GS and headed for the Old Town

Image

Well, I'd always thought of Gdansk as just being a rather drab industrial city so I was surprised and pleased to see the rows of colourful traditional old buildings in the Old Town looking very chippy in the evening sunshine.

Image

In the distance we could see the crippled Russian liner so Viktor said we'd do a circuit over the city and the ship before coming round for a full stop

Image

So we did, and after showing me the Old Town, Viktor then showed me the rows of rather uninviting apartment blocks at the other end of the city that showed I wasn't completely wrong about my image of the city.

Image

Shortly after that we did a pass over the cruise liner. The idea was that after we'd dropped off the processor at Rebiechowo cargo, a chopper would drop it out to the ship and they'd be able to get underway to pick up their first batch of Spring cruise passengers.

Image

So that was it, Viktor called up for a right hander to land on 29 and pretty soon we were on finals.

He let me land and I'm pleased to say that my first landing in this old truck of a biplane was a greaser
