Daylight shots - rate quality please!

Postby Dan » Mon Mar 07, 2005 8:20 am

Hey, here are the extra daytime shots that I promised. I was going to do it sooner but I discovered DOOM3 (again) and French GCSE coursework! Lol

Right... Yeah thats more like how I intended it to look! Does htis always have to be done  for evening shots, as they looked fine even when saved as *.jpg's! Should i just do it for all low-light shots?
Thanks Doug!  ;D

I think it depends on your graphics card & how you have it set up. The sim display is in Direct 3D & my 3D display settings are different to the ones I use for my Desktop. I suspect that this shows up more in dark conditions than daylight. It might also vary depending on which sim you're using. I have to tweak those Gamma correction settings for most of my shots.

PS. It will also depend on your own monitor & desktop display settings. Others might well see your shots differently to you.

Here's an example of what I mean. Your shot #3 with the same Gamma correction setting I used for shot #1 (1.42 in IrfanView). I delberately overdid it to show what's possible & it might look better with less. I have no idea what it looks like in your FS9.

I think certain browsers also make things a little darker - that may just be a myth I don't know.

I'm not convinced of that Dan. I've used IE, Opera & Firefox & not seen any difference in any of them. I've seen people suggest that uploading images to the SimV server affects the quality. I don't see how that's possible.

I think it's all down to your own desktop, 3D & monitor display settings. Browsers & graphics editors use the Windows desktop settings & screenshots very often look different to how it looks for you in the sim. Everyone will use different settings according to their system, just as they do in the sim itself.

Ok. Well If im taking any more evening shots then I'll put 1.42 onto them! Thanks. I've used FireFox and IE4,5 and 6 and everything all looks the same! I can see why people say its the server but I don't see how it oculd happen either!!
Thanks all.

Adjust the settings until they look right to you. I used 1.42 as an example. ;)
