Esbjerg to Tallinn.....but......

Decided to take Heretic's advice and head off to Tallinn in the 340A - but with a little stop along the way. There's a small island off the south-east of Sweden called Oeland (sorry about the extra e for all you Swedish speakers - don't have the right accent on my keyboard  ;) ) and on that island is a small grass strip called Borglanda (ESMB).

The stip is near the town of Borgholm and the ruins of Borgholm castle are right next door. Couldn't wait to see it as I'd never been there before. The strip is only 600 metres long as well, so finding it and making a tidy landing will also be a challenge.

Take off from Esbjerg was uneventful and 'straight out' was more or less dead on the GPS track for the IFR flght plan I'd filed.

I knew that there was likely to be a bit of weather en-route so even though there were no pax, a quick check of cabin security was in order.

The climb to the cruising altitude of 11000ft was in and out of murk all the way

But then - wow....the views 'on top' were spectacular.

South-east Sweden's wintry landscape has its own unique appeal - ahem - to the Swedes :)

A lot of frozen landscape and lakes passed by below and there were even a few flashes of lightning and rumblings of thunder off to starboard while passing overhead ESDF (Ronneby AF base)

More to come in part 2 .... will the boy wonder find the elusive tiny airstrip? And will he be able to land the wild, bucking (I said Bucking...) flying machine safe and sound (ie be able to walk away from the possibly smoking wreckage on the runway...)?

Look for part 2 - only available on these forums - to find out  :o
