Another small twin for my collection

I used to fly almost nothing but heavies once but I got tired of seeing more or less the same glass cockpit every time and more or less flying in the same way over and over again. So I began flying small twins and have never looked back because as well as flying em, most of the ones you get need their FDE sorted, a few tweaks on their panels and possibly a smarten up on the old paint job. My latest which I think has been posted before was exactly like that and now I love it. It's the Cessna 340A by Brian and Tim Novick.

It comes with a nice VC and interior views but no opening doors and things which are just FR hogs IMO. I've made it handle just the way I think it should, given it a proper  ;) registration and changed a few things on the panel. Next is to redo the panel and change the VC to match.

Luvverly  :)

Looks like a dream to fly. I also prefer twins. The buzzy powerful roar of a  King Air at full throttle makes my blood boil every time. Nice looking plane. I will learn to tweak eventually.....

hi clip.....just gotta do it. The more you do the easier it is. And 'improving' the planes you download is half the fun I think.

Next little tweak on this one is to reduce the flap lift - it's far too nose down on the approach and when you apply flap it 'jumps' almost 100ft.

Re the Kingair, I'm not so sure about the engine sound. I've swapped mine for the Cessna 208 which I think is more realistic. Had to - every time I flew the Kingair reminded me I needed to mow the lawn  ;)

I should have been working today but what the heck. I took this little beauty from Brentwood (my little fictional airport to the east of London) to Rochester (UK) and on to Charleroi (Belgium). Then planned direct to Esbjerg (Denmark) but didn't refuel at Charleroi so had to drop into Lelystad just off the flightpath for fuel. Then resumed and have parked up now at Esbjerg before deciding where to go next.

What I do is switch off and save the flight (as Ongoing, over-writing each time) and make it the default. Then when you start next time you are in the same spot. Make your next flight plan from the airport you are at but when asked, don't go to the starting point. That way you continue exactly from where you are - just like in real life.

Any suggestions for my next leg (about 1-2 hours flying from Esbjerg) maybe somewhere with some good downloadable scenery that I'll put in before I leave.

Good idea - I'd never have thought of that. I'll take a look at the scenery.

Maybe I oughta post a few  'round Europe' shots based on suggestions for next destination/next scenery if I can find the time to keep going. At some time I have in mind to drop into Fumicino as I've just got the new sooper-dooper scenery that I haven't had a chance to try yet.

Any more suggestions for next destination or is to be Tallin?

Well here ya go.. ;)

Bit more like it now. Matches the 2D exactly except haven't included the switches because most of em are covered by the yoke

Rollerball, I too love twins. Have you tryed the Piper Aztec here on SimV? It has rudder problems, and I cant figure out how to fix it with my limited experience at tweaking. other than that, its a great plane. Also, you should take a look at the Do-28, the only one I have found are for FS2002, but it works fine in FS9. interesting design.

Rollerball or any of you guys recommend a tutorial for aircraft tweaking? I'd like to give it a shot... :)

Nah... no such thing. Just get hold of the aircraft container SDK that'll explain everything about the cfg file. Then just use basic aerodynamic theory to make changes - you know, what happens when you change power, lift, drag and weight factors.

The air file is something different. M$ have NEVER to my knowledge published any details on the air file - everything we know is down to what people have discovered by tweaking values and telling others about it if they find something significant.

All you can do is use Aired.exe, common sense and a willingness to experiment. Yeah - and always back up the original and the LAST GOOD version of everything you create. I've lost count of the number of times I've made a good file, changed it, got rubbish and then forgotten exactly what changes I made from the last version  ::)

Can't give you any more advice... ;)

Except one more thing. X-Plane this is NOT. Do NOT make the mistake that people like POSKY did in the past. The M$ files are not based on exact science. You can't expect to put real world values into M$ sim files and get real world results. The files are not that accurate. All you can do is play with values until you get what you believe approaches similar-to-real performance.

Final advice - just go for it  8)

Some quality work there, Roger! I will definately slap a few modifications in myself, if I can get my hands on that panel, like a different GPS and the obligatory MP3-Radio. ;)

If you can get the FDs sorted now and some sounds for it, this airplane's value will be doubled...at least!
