Here's Gadsden Muni, as it appears in the sim and in RL. Around this time, I call Flight Watch and recognize the voice as the same woman who gave me my briefing. Things are still as forecast, and it's looking pretty good. Maybe lowering clouds and a little rain near the end of my trip, but the land is flat as a board there; as long as the vis. lets me steer clear of towers and traffic, I'll be good to go.

"Birmingham, Birmingham, greatest city in Alabam' ..." Randy Newman is singing in my head. I'm already thinking about grits and greens, gumbo and BBQ. This is great- I'm flying to New Orleans!

It's a weird sky down here today- never seen this kind of weak summer front while flying. There are scattered columns of cloud, some of them real giants with low bases and towering heads punching through the cirrus way overhead. The one shown on the right just kept going up! But they have small footprints, and no rain I can see, and none reported in the area so far. They seem to build rapidly, then.... pfft. I'm having no trouble steering around them as needed. Probably OK to go under, but that vertical development could mean trouble.
