Cold war escalation

February 9th, 1980.  Orders through to scramble, mission: Raid Soviet Airbase on Kola Penninsula.  Following 4 years of poor harvest and sabotage of oil processing plant in Siberia tensions between east and west have risen dramaticly.  Spetznatz team raiding North Sea Oil Rig intercepted by Royal Marines.  Pre-emptive strikes ordered

Rotate from Manston carrying conventional ordanace, will it still be there on our return?

Crossing Norwegian coast.  Soviet fighters detected, ECM and countermeasures engaged, jinking to avoid lock.

Unfortunately no.  There is a team currently restoring a Vulcan to flight readiness but there is a way to go.  There is one on static display at Norwich Horsham St Faith Museum.  6 years ago I paid

Very nice, but the real Vulcan didn't have flaps. Now try landing using aerodynamic braking at 20 degrees. The so called bomb aimers window was not for bomb aiming but for the co-pilot to look for the runway LOL ;D
