We were late due to strong headwinds. Emergency broadcast.... "co-ordinates close but deep in that valley.... here goes!"

Image

"He should be around here. It's so dark!"

Image

"There! On your Starboard! I see a flare!"

Image

"Easy Man, there are trees and rocks everywhere! What's taking him so long to put that harness on?"

Image

"He's hurt pretty bad Congo, I don't think he'll make it to Wewak, better try for Telefomin, at least we'll have a crosswind in this gale, and the mission there has a doctor...."

Image

"This is getting ugly"

To be continued............

Any suggestions on what to fly for starting out...which model helicopter?

Also, where is the best place to put the realism settings?

from people on the hovercontrol forums I've read people should start out in the Bell and also have their settings on easy when flying Helos. For some reason they just don't fly right with higher settings

jordanj,

I would try the stock Robinson R22 at easier settings to begin with for fun. When you want to get more serious, whack the realism full up and prepare to be humbled..... a dedicated week should see some good improvement.

If you can hover carefully on the spot (full realism), just get the chopper a foot off the ground and try to keep it stable.

If you can't hover, then landings will always be dangerous. It takes practice but it's worth it.

A tip: Never allow the vehicle to move backwards for more than a moment - any increase in forward airspeed will see a similar increase in stability.

Good Luck

I'll try to finish this story soon, I'm grounded due to a virus at the moment.
