Some shots of a cool landing

Postby jordonj » Tue Dec 14, 2004 12:00 pm

I've been battling an unmannered framerate problem that seems to crop up with Milton Schupe's Shrike and this one....I think I solved it by turning down the VC gauge quality for those planes...

I was benchmarking with this one and decided to take these shots during replay.

Not too far off if I do say so myself!

Not my best shots I know, but still pretty cool.  It can be found at NoNodes and Avsim.  Just in case you're wondering (it's an F-18)

Yeah, that's kinda strange. The textures can't be responsible for that, since the Shrike has a texture folder of only about 15 mbytes. Even after cutting out the GPS from the VC,I got bad FPS.
Programming error or resource eating gauges??

Maybe they refresh alot, move all the time, so there is not lag with them. Have you ever noticed that if the VC gauges are real choppy you get better frame rates then if they are smooth. Personally though i bearly use the VC for that very reason, it can be a pain sometimes when those things are choppy.

I had the same problem with the Shrike, and also the Volpar by Brian Gladden....... :(

Question though....How do you turn down the VC gauge quality  ???

"Aircraft" section in the graphics options of FS.

There's a fix for the Volpar...the compass was the problem...

Look for the fix on AVsim

Nice landing, jordonj.  Admire you if you did that from the VC, you can't have had much of a view with the nose-up attitude?

Great shots !!
I love this plane.
But I  have a question.
During night time it has these green glow
stripes visible.
Does a real hornet look like this. too ?

I don't know the answer to that one...

And Ben!  It's easier than you think...just like landing a Cessna, only you go faster!

Oh and Heretic...I suspect it's a memory leak issue as I have no problem until I go into the VC...setting VC gauge quality to low gets rid of it....before I tried that, I'd gradually lower my settings, which would resolve the problem...until I went into the VC...
