We've been on the run
Driving in the sun
Looking out for #1
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Image

Hustlers grab your guns
Your shadow weighs a ton
Driving down the 101
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Image

California!
Here we come!

On the stereo
Listen as we go
Nothing's gonna stop me now
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Pedal to the floor
Thinkin' of the roar
Gotta get us to the shore
California here we come
Right back where we started from

California!
Here we come!

When I hear that song "California Here I Come" I think of Asa Yoelson from Russia 1886 to 1950 who is better known as Al Jolson.
He was the first entertainer to sell one million records and very popular between the years 1911 and 1940.
His music is still popular to-day and he made that song famous along with a few others.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Very good Bjorn. Nice idea. ;)

I don't know how the tune of your modern "California" goes. Here's the original lyric as recorded by Al Jolson in 1924. Doesn't say who wrote it.
When the wintry winds starts blowing
And the snow is starting in the fall
Then my eyes went westward knowing
That's the place that i love best of all
California i've been blue
Since i've been away from you
I can't wait 'till i get blowing
Even now i'm starting in a call

California, Here I Come
Right back where I started from
where bowers of flowers
bloom in the spring
each morning at dawning
birdies sing at everything
a sunkissed miss said, Don't be late!
that's why I can hardly wait
open up that golden gate
California, Here I Come

California, Here I Come (yeaaaaaah!)
Right back where I started from
where bowers of flowers
bloom in the spring
each morning at dawning
birdies sing at everything
a sunkissed miss said, Don't be late!
that's why I can hardly wait (come on!)
open up (open up! open up!) that golden gate
California, Here I Come
