The new ADS 7E7 over Alaska ...

... on its maiden flight from London Gatwick to Honolulu, Hawaii! I don't claim this to be an artistically-(or technically-)beautiful picture(!) but here it is in my work-in-progress repaint in Virgin Atlantic colours. Even though an accurate FD is claimed, I found that I had to adjust the range (the out-of-the-box range is only just over 2,000 miles) and thrust to achieve the rated cruise speed.

The 7E7 is really competing with the Fairey Gannet for the title of the ugliest aircraft ever... :-/

The advantage: More sales for Airbus! ;D

Nice shots.

Heretic, what makes the 7E7 "ugly" to you Airbus fanatics?

firstly the 7E7 isnt ugly, sadly there isnt a very accurate visual model that has been made for Flight sim. Its actually pretty cool looking but who knows as the final design isnt being released for a while. And hate to burst you bubble Heretic, but airlines dont buy aircraft on how they look. If they did, airbus would be broke ::) ;) :)

The 7E7 doesn't look that bad, it's just gonna take some getting used to I think. Nice picture :).

First of all, I'm no Airbus "fanatic". The fact is, that Airbus seems to be the most successful aircraft manufacturer nowadays. And in my opinion, their aircraft are really innovative and beautiful.

I don 't like the shape of the 7E7. You can put that kind of aircraft in a sci-fi-movie, but not in to the skies of today.

Methinks this one is pretty close to the real one. And for me,it's ugly. Dot.

Boeing is walking on thin ice with that one....

again, airlines dont buy a plane on how it looks.
The 7E7 is extremely efficient, much more so than anything Airbus has, and its going to sell very well.

I have no axes to grid here; from a passenger perspective, a 737-300 is not much different to an A319, and I like them both (especially to fly in FS!). Just a little story to add: I was on a flight from Scandinavia to London a few weeks ago and I overheard one of the aircrew asking another member of the aircrew if the plane was a 737. She was told "no, it's an A319" to which she replied "Pity"....

Don't think so.

pre sale interest has been high and pleanty of orders which boeing is now firming up. This will be the most advanced aircraft flying, if you have seen the numbers and specs you'd know that. Airbuses response is nothing more than a modded A330, they again have realised it cant be modified to use the bleedless engines, which will mean its going to be less efficient. I think Airbus may shoot themself in the foot with the A350, it wont come upto the specs of the 7E7 and since boeings predictions are always less than the final results theres little Airbus can do right now, other than press ahead with the A380 and hope that doesnt fail

Hey dudes - time out! The 7E7 (or 787 as it will probably be called when it hits the tarmac) and A380 are aimed at different markets. I know that Boeing and Airbus have their fans and foes, but it's like saying BMWs will out-do Mercedes because they handle better (not true, incidentally). Just as BMW and Mercedes have their own fan bases, so Boeing and Airbus have theirs. They are both very good and do what their purchasers want.

It's a fact that Airbus is being very successful businesswise right now, and it can't be coincidence that advance sales of the 7E7 are only at the upper 50s mark when they were predicting 200+ by Christmas. Reason? Airlines seem to be holding off because of the A350 rumours.

And my fave plane is still the 737-700 by the way.

all in fun mate ;)
but seriously the numbers boeing are interested in right now are, whos interested, this plane hasnt even made it off the drawing board so firm orders are going to be rare. The simple fact is, the A350, is going to be an A330 with slightly longer range and a few more seats. The 7E7(rumor has it Boeing is keeping the E) is a completely new plane.

errrrrr....... how can there be an "accurate" flight modle for something that hasn't been built or even fully designed yet  ::)

Personally I'm no fan of airliners asthetically because IMO they all look more or less the same with only minor varitaions, this thing however has got some pretty interesting new design features  8)
