A Covert Action

Postby jordonj » Sun Oct 10, 2004 12:20 am

Well Alyssa and I continued to talk that day.  She noticed my interest in the planes and asked me about it.  I explained to her that I was a pilot and that my plane was currently at Bar Harbor (DeeDee had made me leave it behind).  Tom and Lainee (his wife) overheard me and asked me what I had.  When I told them it was a Lake Renegade Turbo, he said I had to bring it to the fly-in tomorrow (a small airshow he puts on).  Gerald and Beverly-Jo also took an interest in my plight and hatched a plan.

Everyone was so insistent...I just couldn't refuse ;D!

The first part of the plan involved Alyssa, Beverly-Jo, and Lainee taking DeeDee for a "girl's night out" in town.

I snapped this as Gerald was bringing his wife in...

Gerald navigated me around the island and back to Bar Harbor...

And waiting for me were a couple of Gerald's friends..

Who got me back to KBHB...

Once I got there, I got the Lake prepped in short order...

The wind was blowing towards the East, but the closest runway for going into the wind was runway 22...so I taxiied down it (the only was to taxi to the end at KBHB) praying that there wasn't a pilot with a mind to land.

Now for the tricky part.  I knew where the area was, but I had never seen it from the air, much less at night.

Image

The moon helped me tell where the shore was...

After catching a glimpse of Tom's airstrip (tank gott he has lights) I lined myself up to land on the water.  Some guy on a boat got this shot.

And Tom got this one as I was shutting down.

Well, DeeDee's gonna be pissed but there's been no pounding at my door, so it's safe to say she doesn't know yet.

As for Russel, we decided that he would be in an awkward position if he had to keep a secret from his wife (especially since he's...whipped) so we decided not to tell him ;D.

Did you really drive from the beach to the airfield?
