When I think of the smaller airbuses (A319-320-321) I think of maircraft that are used for regional and smaller flights...but looking at the lenght of that aircraft it shows how not small they are

The A321 is by no means a plane used for small and regional flights. The range of the A321 matches the new 737's

However, the A318 (baby bus) is fighting in the same category as the CRJ's and ERJ's and to a certain extent the B717 :)

Nice shots J41. I don't know why airlines would choose those types of engines though. Personally, i think the other type of engine (CFM 56) is way better looking and it performs a little bit better. MTU powered planes are actually a bit underpowered.

Thrust rating isn't everything...weight is also important.
The GE90 (777 engine) is the most powerful one outthere. So logically that would be the most popular one of them all. But in fact...the airlines don't need all that thrust, heck almost every take-off is de-rated in some way or another. GE90 is also the heaviest, so why fly around with extra weight when you don't need all the power.

Nexus-
I didn't think of the weight issue. That is deffinetly another factor. Still, those CFM 56's are way cooler I think.
