I decided to post some lesser know Star Wars ships for all you science fiction fans out there.

Image
The V38 Assault Fighter was briefly used by the Empire during the galactic Civil War. It comes in various configurations most commonly with 3 wingtip laser cannons. A few were equiped with a cloaking device but this program was dropped when the Alliance uncovered the program. It has cruising speed of 120mglt (MGLT: Milli-light 1/1000 the speed of light)

Image
The Drednaught is an older starship that is used by the Rebels, the Empire, and various other factions. It is a standard medium starship.

Image
The TIE Defender was developed by the Empire as a heavy assault fighter equiped with a hyperdrive. It is equiped with 4 wingtip lasers and two wingtip ion cannons. It also has two chin mounted missile tubes. It has a cruising speed of 140mglt.

Image
The Liberty Class MC80 Calamari Cruiser is a standard heavy starship used by the Rebels. The cruiser Liberty was destroyed by the second Death Star at the battle of Endor to the surprise of the Alliance attack force.

Image
The Imobilizer class Interdictor is a highly specialized medium starship. The large globes on the ship's outer hull create artificial gravity wells that disrupt hyper/subspace preventing ships from faster than light travel. Dispite it's special duty, it is fully equiped for battle although it is usually on the sidelines preventing enemy escape.

These ships are all from X-Wing Alliance. The only default ship is the Liberty Cruiser. The others are from the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade Project.

The V38 of 'Rebel Assualt 2' fame, with the irritating cloaking device...
The TIE Defender, Dreadnaught and Interdictor were in 'TIE Fighter', as is the Nebulon-B2 firgate which is in the TIE Defender picture

PS: the interdictor sucks a$$ in the gunning department... they are killed too easily even by a Nebulon-B (which is about 2/3 of it's size)

Nice one, love these shots. I've read about most of these in some of the Star Wars novels, but never seen them before.

Does X-Wing Allliance have the tractopr beam on the TIE Defender, and does it allow the total power management as it was in TIE fighter?
That thing can outrun missiles if you tweak it for maximum speed.

Yes it does. X-Wing Alliance focuses on the Rebel side but Imperial fighters are flyable in Skirmish mode or with a mission editor. XWA is played like TIE Fighter except you have a virtual cockpit instead of a 2D model, the hyperdrive actually does something useful, you have better weapons, and of course their outstanding graphics engine. I took these shots with all settings max with 8X AS and 2xQ AA. The game sure looks a lot different when I first played it on a PII 233mhz system with no graphics card.
