Boring afternoon in Poughkeepsie, NY.

So, I woke up this morning in my dorm at Marist College.  I looked out the window and opened it up and took in a deep breath.  It was a great day for a flight.  So, I borrowed my girlfriend's car and drove over to Dutchess County Airport and rented this nice Bellanca Scout for a trip down to White Plains, a nice 30 minute flight.

I got clearance from the tower and literally within 50 yards I was in the air.  I was very impressed.

It was a nice and surprisingly clear overcast afternoon so I decided to keep her low to enjoy the sights.  Here I caught a shot of a little lake in the Hudson Valley with my digital.

I really wish I had more time but the air traffic in the White Plains area was pretty busy thanks to the traffic coming in and out of the airports in the big city a little ways south.  I made visual with my runway, number 16 at White Plains Airport and began my descent.  I saw some really nice little houses on the mountains!

Brought my throttle down to idle, and made a smooth approach to my runway.  It was a very relaxing landing!

Parked and ready to grab myself a bite at a local deli.  Maybe I'll bring her home tonight.  =]

Hope you liked 'em.  I haven't posted screenies in awhile and I have been on a kick for small props recently.

So that's what Poughkeepsie looks like! It just so happens that Poughkeepsie is one of my stops on my cross-country trip of the U.S.A. Looks much better than I imagined. By the way great shots and airplane!  ;D

Flying can be so relaxing from time to time, nice to see you enjoy it!

Still don't understand a town named Poughkeepsie can be boring...

I got to fly one of those big C-5's, ok, so it was out of hawii in there multi-million dollar sim but it was still cool, landed on 3 out of 4 engines. First Cadet to do it too! and it was my first flgiht! If the rest of you guys want oppertunites like this join CAP (Civil Air Patrol). Give me an e-mail if you want more information.

The name "Poughkeepsie" actually is derived from a combo of three local indian words that they used when refering to the area
Translated it means "little resting spot by the river".....the Hudson river.

Poughkeepsie actually does have a nice water front park so, the name still applies.  :)
