The world's ugliest airplane...

A fighter plane without a purpose, designed for a conflict that will never happen, destined to go down in history as the most useless plane ever.  I never did like this thing, but it's fun to fly...

BTW, the stealth is subsonic, but I got this one up to 740 knots.

Nice shots there Kevin, she has served some purposes though, she did well over Iraq, not bad over Serbia (one lost), and other places we'll probably never get to hear about ;)
She is ugly, but at the same time possesses a strange beauty....

I still wonder how they managed to keep that project running while the design was obsolete since the B-1A was designed...

while it may be ugly, i would hardley call it the most useless plane made. Its prooved itself, just look at the raids on baghdad, explosions were going off before the sirens had started. Plus it brought the stealth age to a new level

man do you know what you are talking about? everybody knows that the Nighthawk prooved itself in conflicts such at Desert Storm and every other one that followed.

the first time it was shown to public, it looked a bit strange but man, if you see this black sheep in real life, you respect it! this plane was a big contribution to the stealth technology. way to go Kelly! i think it's sad the USAF wants to reduce the number of active F-117's.  :-/

Couldn't be more correct Craig, if it wasn't for the nighthawk in iraq, our troops would propably have suffered more losses, and it's also the very first stealth to carry weapons!!!

I'm with the useless camp here. There isn't really much call for such an aircraft in this day and age. Yes it has done well in Iraq, but only really in Iraq. And if i'm not mistaken, quite a few have been lost in action too.

Not to mention it's not doing anything a Wild Weasel couldn't have done and done it better...   ::)

I agree with Craig and Mr. Bones. The F-117 has seen some important missions and been effective.

I really must resent your introduction.  And Woody...I think only one was lost over Serbia/Kosovo...and that is it.
