rocky trip, with a great, great landing!!!

So I wanted to try out my new A330 Dragonair so yes, I know that airline probably doesn't fly from KMIA-Nassau Intl, but oh well--- i like short flights!  :)

Anyway, so I'm about 10 miles out from my approach and I couldn't see the runway at all even though ATC told me I should be picking up a visual on it.  About 6 or 7 miles out I realized the lights I picked up in the distance were leading to my runway, number 32, and I was coming in to it in the wrong direction!!

Image

After heavily banking right, I brought her back around to the left, I was nervous that I was going to waste the landing.  It was too late to save the game, which I usually forget to do anyway.

Image

Nearly a few yards from the ground and the runway I was still banking.  I was preparing to crash this heavy bird.

Image

I got her pretty well lined up and I slowly nudged her back to the right.

Image

Well, I'll be damned!  I managed to bring her down perfectly!!!  It wound up being the smoothest visual landing of my entire life and the first time I ever visually landed her on the center line!

Image

This just goes to show you how much more gratifying visual landings are.  They're the best when you take off IFR and land at a runway that doesn't have ILS.  Nassau Intl's runway 14 (the one i landed on, but the opposite way) had an ILS frequency and I was tempted to bring her in using the instruments but I chose not to.  Boy, am I glad I went at it manually!

isn't this game addictive!?

Awesome job Beuk! Don't you love those "perfect" landings?!  I've been flying FS for almost two years and have only made a few of them. Keep up the good work! Nice plane too.  ;D

_)Every FS  :o! lol, I've only had 2002 and 2004  ;D. I started out doing crazy things too, such as landing big planes on small runways. One time I planned a flight from Bangkok to a place called Male' out in the Indian Ocean and I didn't know how long the runway was at Male's airport. So I took up a 747 and headed out only to find that the runway there was a very short dirt runway, lol. After that I decided to get serious. (Though sometimes I like to pull a stunt or two  ;) ;D) I outta do more VFR flights though...I've been doing IFR forever!

Yeah, I've been into planes and aviation for a long time too. I am hoping to become a commercial pilot, but I have a while until that comes up! I was thinking of trying to get into some flight school at the base here...well hopefully you'll get into the military! *salute* ;D

They have ILS coming in the oppsite direction of runway 32, so it's the same landing strip, but coming from the other side.  I didn't bother changing it because there was other air traffic and that would've most likely caused me to be landing in the direction that another plane was coming towards me.   :)

ps...as you'll see in one of the cockpit views there are flames on the runway.  I have a question about that.

On my landing, something blew up.   ;D

But...there were no problems visually and my instruments were fine.  I didn't come down hard at all and I was cruising in at about 180 by the time i touched down.

Does anyone know what could've exploded?  It looked to me like something under the plane at first, but I really don't know...
