California Carrier

Postby RollerBall » Tue Mar 30, 2004 6:52 pm

In my idle moments  ::) I've been playing around with the carrier off San Francisco.

Image

Added a few bits and pieces and effects to it to make it a bit more interesting, plus added all the Comms frequencies and ILS and put it into the airport list so you can flight plan to and from it. I've been trying to make it part of my North American carrier package and have almost succeeded ...... but with one problem.

Because of technical reasons it's been impossible to add all the stuff that's needed to have AI using it as I've done with the other carriers. Pity, as unlike the other 'default' carriers it's a proper model with a hangar deck and things but there ya go, what's possible is better than nothing :(

Hi Roger...!
...that's in my neck of the woods...just off Golden Gate Bridge..... ;D...!

Have you modified the existing carrier or made new one from scratch...?

(I get told off by the coast guard for buzzing the carrier in my '152....)...!

LOL...!

Paul.

P.S. It would be an interesting excercise to see if LAGO's FSSE objects could be added to a carrier, providing that the deck and super-structure is "solid".....?

Wotcha Paul

No it's the existing one - a very nice looking model actually. Bit small but I managed to land the Buckeye on it. The others I've used I've made a more realistic size so with skill you can land and take off in jets without using cables and catapults and things.

But there's something funny about this one. When you start to add airport facilities it magically messes up the levels. So when you try to start at a parking place or on the runway you always find youself down at sea level!

I'm still messing with it and I might find a way round but I'm not optimistic as the (secret ;) ) solutions I've used to make my other carriers work haven't worked here.

As far as I know my carriers are still the only ones with AI (Waikato and FS9 carriers don't have it) and I like it as otherwise they are totally dead. Watching the fabulous Tomcat doing carrier circuits is just magic. I've got 2 working the circuit at the same time and seeing both on final a minute apart at dusk with landing lights is just something else.

And people rubbish this sim...... ;)

Hey,Roger!

Nice work you made there, but what about adding some traffic to the Waikatio?
Or did you already do that and I've just read over something (as usually)...umm...never mind. ;D

Nevertheless keep the good work up! I'm still looking forward to your package.  :)
