TU-334,version 2.Just started it...

Postby Sterk » Wed Mar 24, 2004 6:09 pm

Finally after short period of collecting reference material
I started second version of TU-334 model. This is almost completely new rebuilt model, mmm,say 95% technically
accurate due to reference materials provided by Tupolev design bureau and much more detailed...

Here for example front and rear landing gears:

And who do you expect will be able to run this monster?  It's gonna have more polys than a POSKY plane!  You might want to consider cutting down on polys. ;)

Hmm, not bad, but if that's just the gear, i have the idea that i might be up against an FPS nuclear bomb if i try to fly it. :o

OK,in couple of days I'll do a fly test and then I'll know surely if it's fps nuclear bomb or not...
I want to check also wich of details is seen clearly in seem and wich not and then may be I'll cut them off...

Yes,sure, but I think there will be a little problem with gauges, because I dont understand much in programming,I think I'd better find somebody to deal with gauges...

OK,I've tested it in sim-absolutely no problem with fps...
I made test flight with new gears on almost finished plane(although without control surfaces yet)
I have:
Athlon2000+
1Gb ddr ram
Gforce4 440 MX
My sim is stable on 20-23 fps...

So,Scorpion,dont worry...

if that does around 20fps on a GF4 mx...
it will be no problem for the more powerful cards

Looks great Sterk! Nice detail there!

On the subject of polys, with most modern cards, it's not the poly count that kills the frames - it's the massive 32-bit textures people are now using. 28k polys for a model is more than reasonable!

Try creating a 100,000 polygon ball in Gmax or FSDS, you'll see it flies fine until you start mapping 20 or so 1024x1024 32-bit textures to it.

I'm looking forward to this one, keep us informed Sterk!
