Posted: Tue Jan 06, 2004 5:39 pmThe thrust reverse on 747s is done differently than on the DC-9/MD-80?BizJEts/717. With them, the thrust goes up to full and 'buckets' pop up to re-route it forward.
On the 747, a similar thing happens- but no buckets. The thrust is re-routed by the rear part of the nacelle that slides back.

Posted: Tue Jan 06, 2004 8:52 pmFrom a quick look, the 717 seems to use clam shell/ bucket type reversers. There is said to be a difference between them two, but that's beyond me
