The first picture that I ever saw of this plane was on the cover of RAF Flying Review. I think that the headline referred to Mach 3 (an aspiration as it turned out ).

Posted: Tue Jan 27, 2004 7:38 amthe 188 was planned as an mach 3+ research platform but due to engine problems and the incredibly high fuel consumption it was just used at speeds about mach 2.
