Pics from my Blimp Ride

Postby ReverseThrust » Thu Jan 01, 2004 9:43 pm

A good friend of mine pilots the old, classic Goodyear Blip, known as the Defender...  He was covering the Orange Bowl in Miami, and invited me along for a ride !!:D  My ride was earlier in the day, before anyone had come to the stadium.  The blimp crew was doing camera testing.

Tie down strings gone, moments before takeoff

The cabin on this thing is a beauty!

Cockpit view here.  The blimp is steered up & down with the wheel on the left and side to side with the wheel on the right.  We're en route...

There She Is! ProPlayer Stadium!

Here we are back on the ground, the weights and tie-down cables back in place.

Hope you enjoyed this trip as much as I did!  This blimp is a pleasure to fly, not to mention having an eyepopping VC and Panel!

Where in heaven's name did you get that model?  I want it soooo bad!  I've been dying to see a good airship for msfs, and that's fabulous.

Puhleeeeezzze tell where it is!

Thanks.

Fine, as long as you're not in a hurry to get anywhere, but must be quite the stable camera platform for some nice scenic picture taking........

Thanks for all the replies.
That is what slew is for, and yes, I slewed a bit.
This thing has pretty good upward acceleration- full throttle and you'll climb at a good rate (for a blimp). Easy to land, too.

prizzim, ask and you shall recieve~
Search for 'gydef.zip' at AVSIM or use this link:

One of these days I'm gonna fly around some good scenery- maybe a big city where one can take good pics.
