Talk about a busy airport...

Postby Wing Nut » Sun Nov 16, 2003 12:36 pm

I was messing with TTools and finally got a perfect circuit set up between two airports.

KOXV (Knoxville Iowa) and KPEA (Pella Iowa) are two cities seperateed by lake Red Rock in south-central Iowa.  Both towns are about 5000 people and very quiet little towns where not much happens.  I wouldn't even know they existed except I grew up in one of them.

To set up the circuit, I added 6 new parking spaces to KOXV, and 4 to KPEA.  Pella didn't have a taxiway, so I also added one.

So now, every hour I have seven planes leaving from each airport.

From Pella, I have:

A6M2 Zero
F4F Wildcat
Sea Fury
BF-109
the Belgian Spitfire
another F4F
P-36 Hawk

From Knoxville, I have

F4U Corsair
A6M5 Zero
Spitfire
P-47 Thunderbolt
P-40 Warhawk
P-51 Miss America
P-51 Check Mate
P-38 Lightning

It's quite a sight when you get up in the air and fly between the two!

Here's Knoxville

My favorites are the Belgian Spit, the Spit I'm flying (Mk XVI) and the Reno Mustangs, especially Miss America.  ;D  The landings are terrible, I think if I saw a pilot land MY plane like that, I'd kick his ass.  We're talking HARD!

The reason I set this up is I wanted to see what it would be like to fly through this between the two with all those warbirds in the air.  The effect is everything I'd hoped for and more!  ;D

I am amazed how easy it is.  Everyone thinks it's so difficult, but once you figure it out, it's easier than installing a new plane.

Pippin,

I've done quite a bit of work on AI FDEs, especially taildraggers

If you go to my website (see sig panel below) I've got an FDE for Andrew Wai's Mustang as an AI. You might wanna try plugging the numbers from your P51s into it and see how they perform then :)

Cool, I've been meaning to start bothering you with questions.  ;D  Somone suggested you were an authority on the subject.

::)

Yeah, like the thing I'm the best authority on is just getting up in the morning - and even that's getting harder!

Always try to answer any questions though - my old primary teacher said I had an enquiring mind  :D
