Finally Found a Fancy Phantom

I haven't posted screenshots for ages, but I found this very nice F4E Phantom. Plenty of moving bits but no VC unfortunately.

1. At the hold mark, MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida

Image

2. Climbing out over the city, gaining speed

Image

3. Putting a hole in the sky..... This climb topped out at 66,000ft

Image

4. 900kts along Floridas gulf coast, and yes, when I was a kid, they did it.

Image

5. Landing the beast. This took some practice. Judicial use of airbrake is essential on this model, but once held at 140kts it was fine and felt good. I'm not sure what the landing speed is supposed to be! I hold the brakes
on over the threshold and it settles at about 120kts.

Hoped you like the pics, I sure was finally glad to find a great F4 model

It's a F4e, it was late viet nam era I think.

The little aiming thing under the nose is the standard cannon the US put on fighters for years, I forget the details exactly but it'll spit a spread of lead in the sky ahead of 100 explosive rounds per second, 50mm 0r 60mm rounds ...... anyone know? The F111 had the same cannon in the early versions at least.

This is in the .cfg file:

description=Type E is a lot of models produced in F-4. \nThis file is modeling of airframes of types produced in that at latter term. \nNose vulcan and the slot of the horizontal tail that is the feature of Type E is reproduced. \nMoreover, leading edge Slat of the main wing that is the feature of the production type of latter term also has taken it. \n\nby Kazunori Ito\n

The F-14 has that gun under the nose too. Now all the new ones are internal so they don't give off as much heat to enemy IR sensors.

You can feel the power that the old school Phantoms had in those screens.  Excellent!!!

That jet was one of my favorites growing up :) so thanks for the memories

nope. the little thingie below the F-14s nose is an camera. the cannon is mounted on the port side of the fuselage, below the cockpit.
