LOL Landing lights!  I thought that it was dark...

It was somewhere in Oman, I could tell you but then I'd have to shoot you LOL.  (Truth is I can't remember!)

Nice shots! I like to fly in the middle east, it's better than going by bus, nowadays.

Smoke, is that 2004? Seeing the old GPS and all?

Nope, 2002.  Shots edited for size and about 12-25 FPS.

Of course, for those that are interested try comparing the Groundspeed, VSI, attitude indicator and altitude.....  I was lucky to walk away from that one ;D

217kts, is that full throttle?  :D
Let me guess, wanted to stay ahead of an AI?

Yes, I was using the auto pilot during the approach due to a four year old distraction.  I forgot to reset the throttle after my desent from cruising altitude so when I switched the AP off and noticed that I was doing 90 knots I had to push the throttle fully forward as the stall light came on instantly.  Now because I was at about 2000 feet doing 90 Knots on AP the trim was so far back that my nose was about 10 degrees above the horizon and rising.  By forty degrees nose up I had regained control of the trim and found myself in a nose down attitude speeding up alarmingly.  To my immense surprise I could see the runway and didn't need to adjust the course that much.  I jammed on full flaps when i noticed the speed was a little high (about two seconds after the last shot) and immediately ballooned skywards.  I then decided that throttling back may be a good option.  Somehow I managed to get the plane down in one piece and I only bounced once. The passengers have decided on a law suit and I'm expecting a stiff letter from the CAA any time soon.

The speed on touching down was in excess of 150 Kts IAS and it took me the entire length of the runway to come to a halt.  I then relatively calmly had a well earned cigarette and decided to give the transition from AP to manual flight a little more practice...
