Anyone out there can post up some pics of the greatest and most expensive city in the world! (that's in terms of auto insurance, transit fares, bridge tolls, and a slice of pizza!) Yes I am talking about New York City  ;D!

Can I check out some FS2k4 pics of Manhattan, The Statue Of liberty,  and John F. Kennedy Intl Airport.

I know it is too much to ask. But I want to see if there is any difference in FS2k2 to warrant spending so much Dough on 2K4, You do know I am paying about $1.75 for a slice of pizza  :o!

You know, whether or not there is an improvement in any of the airports (I know my was improved a little, but not much).  The other features are well worth the money.

I got a glowing report today from a friend who got 2004 three days ago.......he says the best is the huge increase in the detail of IFR related effects and controls.....

:o Thanks for the pictures speedbird! There really is no improvement to the airport or manhattan. I thought they would added a little more detail to the Statue of liberty and atleast put a ton more buildings in the area sorrounding Laquardia and JFK. Manhattan looks the same as in FS2k2.

The one real detail that I am seeing sticking out like a thumb is the reflective water textures and the clouds. I hear in Fs2k4 the virtual cockpits are more sharper, plus you can use buttons and controls on the panels in this mode. Is this true.

I am going to purchase this new version soon, but I want to check out as many details of the game as I can before making that move!

Mav316,

Hi.  I saw the pix posted here and thought I'd go and get some shots too.  An AWFUL lot of how things look in a screen shot depends on how the sim is run as to the settings.  I get completely different look out of that area.

Here you go:

I had a picture of the statue of liberty too....but the upload page gave me some problems...error message.  I'll try to post it here if it ever uploaded:

OOps..... that is NOT my picture of the statue :o  :o  :o.

The error message must have been that there was another file with the same name.... but it didn't SAY that.

I'll rename it and upload again.

Thank you John ,

Those night picutes were awesome man :o! What settings do you have your flightsim on because that looks absolutely crisp!

I ask because I think I might need to go into the market of purchasing a whole new rig to run this new simulator with the level of graphics, lighting that you displayed there!

I am running on a Pentium 3 at 500mhz  :'(
40 gig hard drive  :'(
64 mb Nvidia graphics card  :)
The only thing impressive on this rig is my soundcard which is still good!

Cool the lighting effects make it look a whole lot sharper, but the detail hasn't changed. Guess we will have to leave that upto someone to create a Statue of Liberty addon scenery to bump that off!

Anyone can fill me in on if I need a more powerful rig then I have to run the effects in FS2k4

No problem, Mav.  Except that I got my commercial ticket pulled after that last shot by the statue  ;).

I am running an Asus motherboard with P4 2.4 gig with 533 front side bus, 1 gig RAM, a 40 gig C system drive and a 120 G E drive with FS 2004 on it, ATI Radeon 9600 pro 128 meg viseo card, soundblaster live audio, and a 1024 x 768 32 bit display.  Settings in FS2004 are pretty much maxed.  AA and AF is off in the sim and on in the hardware.  AA is 4X and AF is 8 X.  Mip map is at 6.

So it is a pretty good system.....but NOT total top end by any means.

Hope that helps.

best,

Yes, you can indeed control the plane from the Virtual Cockpit. This includes the Thrust Levers. Speedbrake, Radios, most all the buttons on the panel. This is a shot of the 747-400 panel

;) did we forget something speedy  ;D
It's all good, Just for the virtual cockpit and detailed planes, I would go for it. But I don't think I am going to get the detail and reflective surfaces that John is getting with his rig.
