CFS2 fans rejoice! Finally, the aircraft that dominated the compaings of the Pacific Theater sim comes to CFS3, thanks to the folks at AvHistory.org and 1% of course. Although this aircraft doesn't look as good as their F4U Corsair, it's still a good looking tub of an aircraft. I did find the control a little stiff but I can fix that using the old CFS2 F4F aircraft file. The plane comes with standard ordinace, similar to what it carried in CFS2. With all these pacific planes comming out, Microsoft better hurry up with the scenery SDK because CFS3 is going to need some Pacific theater scenery to go with them.

On the ground. The F4F comes with 1%'s standard pacific features including cowl flaps.

Nice pics. The FM-2 must have been the primary naval designation i guess. I believe the paint scheme is based on a real Wildcat that flew in WWII. Not ver pretty, but good enough.

Great shots.  Is it me or do the wings seem a little big?

Possibly perspective issues, let's face it we all know my track record with AC recognition.

"Messeur Smoke2much nil points." ;)

Actually they do seem a bit long for the aircraft.

AvHistory released a new paint for this aircraft today. It now looks more like the CFS2 one.

Just a question here... does anyone know if any of the F4 Wildcats or F2's were sent and seen action in the European Theatre?

Just remembered, I think the FM-2 was what they called the Wildcat that was manufactured by General Motors.  It says here on this calendar I have, "General Motors built 1,151 FM-1 and 4,777 FM-2 versions of the rugged Wildcat."

Yeah they did, mainly in the nth Atlantic on the RN Carriers, without looking they (am going on a ledge) they may have fought in the Mediteranian in Operation Torch & the Sicily Landings. Someone may want to confirm that for me!
In RN service they were known as the "Martlet" & the FM-2 was the Goodyear bult Wildcat.
