Throwing down the gauntlet...

Postby Wing Nut » Tue Jun 10, 2003 8:47 pm

I posted this earlier, but apperently it went to that great BBS in the sky, so...

The challenge is the Oakland side of the San Francisco Bay Bridge.  Take any World War II fighter plane and fly through the superstructure.  For extra points, do it going at least 240 knots!

The task is unclear.........is that a transverse pass through the upper "A" frame areas or are you asking for a pass along the roadway inside the actual bridge ......don't forget that its easier if you do it fast as there is less time for drift to bring you out of your desired flightpath, as long as you line up straight in the first place...........

Fly through the superstructure, along the roadway.  Lengthwise.  Just like a car...  Have fun!  I have barely made it once!

I know this isn't a fighter and won't count for your warbird task, but its not all that hard with a small one.....
I did it like so ......next pass will be with a warbird of some sort.......

Rifle - are you turning off the building crash detect?

I get this anytime I come near a bridge:

I started right where you were - but when I got to the trusses its like I hit a brick wall, lost the wings, went through the roadway, and into the water.... im all bruised up!

Smoke on the water............gee, what a pretty deep purple crash site you left on the water.......!

Probably have that detect off, but as you can see by my smoke, I made no contact with any structure.......

yeah, I think that's a must, I tried it in an Ercoupe which is about as small as they come, but no luck.

Probably hit that water like a led zeppelin that collided with Jefferson's starship

First there was Jefferson Airplane; since that didn't sound trippy enough, they changed the lineup and became Jefferson Starship.  In a last major bid to maintain their popularity, (or because Paul Kantner left, you decide) they became simply 'Starship'
