Farewell Air France Concorde - Part 1

This is to mark the passing of a fabulous aircraft. Air France is terminating their Concorde flights tomorrow. The last passenger flight leaves JFK Saturday, May 31st 2003 at 0800 New York Time. British Airways will keep flying their fleet untill the end of October. But this is still a day to remember in Aviations history.

The graceful lady took off from Paris for JFK this morning for the last time. I'm just grateful I've been on her.

nice shots! i have just read the Concorde will arrive at the Paris airshow on the 21st of june...it will fly a formation with the Patrouille de France...guess what...i'll be at the show on the 21st!! jippie!

Ozzy...you have flown with her?? drinking so much and still rich enough to fly with this bird...i think i also gonna be an English teacher at uni.  ;)

I'm really gonna miss her, even though I've never been within many km's of her!  I went to England in December to stay with my aunt and there family, for 10 days, she said that the concorde flew over everyday at 11:00, and the house would shake from the vibes, When we got there, it didn't fly over once!!!!!  In 10 days!  How unlucky!  I really wich I'd seen her close up at an airshow or something.  But unfortunately I live over 5000 miles away from the nearest one, and I won't ever get to see her.  Makes me upset every time I think about it.  By the way, Ozzy, didn't think a uni teacher could afford to go on the concorde, , with tickets that were about 5-7000 pounds!  Lucky bugger anyway!

When i was younger and living in Ayr, Scotland, BA would send one of their concorde's up to Prestwick airport to train pilots. I've been told i can sleep through her taking off (this is without sound-proof double glazing , I can even sleep through RAF F-4's with updated engines)
My dad (who worked at prestiwck at the time) got the chance to stay in the cockpit of Alpha-Delta during a test flight!
I tell you one thing, I watched the final take-off from JFK this morning, a tear filled my eye, and i dont show emotion that easily.

i thought richard branson was having the lot of them from BA. would be different to see concorde in a virgin livery. that was weeks ago i heard that to anyone know whats happening?

Airwolf--As to the Virgin Atlantic Concordes, BA said straight-out no.  They said that only BA and AF had the necessary know how to make the now out of production parts and maintenance calls.  Too bad.  We must applaud the VA guys for trying though.

The concordes will be donated to museums, including the Seattle Museum of Flight and of course the Smithsonian!
