I found these two aircraft to be very similar, so I did some research.

well, both designs (I should actually say 3, you forgot the Gripen) were started at the smae time, with the same concept in mind, delta+canard, they all look alike, except the gripen, which has only one engine. It's really no surprise that their spec's are the same, because they all utilize the same technologies, as well as a similar (or identical) airframe built out of the same materials.

euh..no. the gripen has just one engine,so you can't compare them properly.

What do you mean Rafale has no afterburner? I suggest looking up rafale pics on Airliners.net.

my main wants were the f-14 and apache and also the sea harrier when it comes out, i was dissapointed that they left out the lynx though.
i'll be interested to see how many more issues they go for though its meant to be 32 but these magazines seem to die after a few issues, i was surprised at the quality of the models to, better than most plastic ones you pay double for

hey whitey
the rafale is afterburning, i've seen it on full afterburners ;) at the airshow.
also an advantage with the rafale is that it is semi-stealth (reduced radar signature to more than half of the plane) wereas the typhoon isn't, also it has conformal fuel tanks, most probably extending the range of the rafale beyond that of the eurofighter.
also it's doesn't cost sh*tloads of money ;D

yeah, you're right. i think the eurofighter is one of the reasons, why the german government has to save every cent.

My apologies. :)

Just downloaded an update for the Rafale that adds afterburners.  Although, I can still get the plane to -5.2Gs before I overstess it... ::)

Y2Craigie:  I've got the magazine ordered through a newsagent.  Even if the publishers stops sending it to big shops like WHSmiths, they'll make them for subscribers and people who order it every week...like me. ;)

Well if they're fuel consumption in the sim is anything to go by (it's probably not, though...), Typhoon has a definite advantage.  The Rafale seems to use a lot more fuel at 32000 feet and half throttle.  But I don't think the Rafale dynamics are as accurate as the Eurofighter ones...after all, Eurofighter liscenced the DSB Typhoon. :D ;)

BTW, I got Tyhpoon to an airbase in southern Spain from BAe Warton using about 60% of it's fuel load...anyone want to find out what the Rafale can do?  Cruise speed should be near Mach 1.7, for fairness BTW... ;)
