Hi All,

Sorry if I'm being completely dumb, but........

I have downloaded the Icon A5 we're going on about above & have installed it into P3D v3 as per usual, something I've done about a zillion times but it doesn't appear in the aircraft list (all of the textures do not appear)
I understand that there is an issue with one of the textures not showing up that has a fix, I have used this fix with no joy, I also added the Thumbnails that were kindly provided by Dave T

As I said before, I'm probably doing something really dumb!!

Kind Regards,

Keith.

You only have to alter the model folder to use in fsx, to use in p3d don't make any alterations to the model folder. Use the file in its original form for p3d. Sent you pm with cfg text for missing texture fix Dave.

It says for FSX, but flies OK in FS 2004, only the pilot is missing & no wingfolding.

I downloaded from here the A5.zip, among FSX props, & in the TEXTURE folder I found this note:

Image

I even found here at Simviation a Flying Fish texture for it, and installed it in the A5 folder. THAT FROZE THE WHOLE FS 2004 & I restarted my Lap. I went into the textures, comparing the DEFAULT WHiTE text. with the FLYiNG FISH text...& there it was: the Standard Textures are DXT3 bmp's, whyle the FF Textures are DXT5 bmp's. With my DXTBmp program I corrected this Bubu and...

Thanks Dave T,

I downloaded this latest version & it works beautifully now, not too sure what was up with the earlier version that wouldn't work/appear as I mentioned above but glad it's solved!

Oh by the way, do the wings fold? I remember that there was a earlier model done by someone else that had folding wings.

Kind Regards,

Keith.

Thanks for reminding me about this aircraft, guys.
In the past, I have never used the FS9 version, but I did use the FSX-native one. However, the VC was far from the quality of this one ! :shock:
I will download this new version, the VC looks awesome, and I just don't have enough amphibian aircraft in my hangar anyways :drool:

Download icona5 from classicwings.net and extract to desktop.
For use in FSX you have to alter the model cfg.
open model folder and open model cfg with notepad and change this
[models]
normal=A5
interior=A5_interior
to this
[models]
normal=A5
interior=A5_interior_old
and save.
Copy the thumbnails from this file into the corresponding texture livery files0-8 in the icona5 folder. Rara Avis Simulations Icon A5 FSX edits zip available on this site.
open aircraft cfg using notepad and change
[fltsim.0]
title=Icon A5 Livery 0
sim=a5
model=
panel=
sound=
texture="Livery 0"
atc_parking_types=
atc_id=GLA2011
atc_airline=ICON
kb_checklists=A5_check
kb_reference=A5_ref
ui_manufacturer="Icon Aircraft"
ui_type="A5"
ui_variation="Livery 0"
description=

to this
[fltsim.0]
title=Icon A5 Livery
sim=a5
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=Livery_0
atc_parking_types=
atc_id=GLA2011
atc_airline=ICON
kb_checklists=A5_check

move icon a5 folder back to simobjects/airplanes and it should work in FSX.
