Wow you guys, that Seafire is really spiffy, I'd been noticing Pippin's sig and was wondering about it, I've not been familiar with this plane till I saw it here in these forums.
It seems to look somewhat like the "Chipmunk" is there any connection perhaps?

LOL SabreHawk. Don't let Ozzy see this. The Seafire is the naval version of the legendary Spitfire, arguably the most famous piston-engined fighter ever built.
The Chipmunk is a nice little 130 hp 2-seater basic trainer. I fail to see any resemblance.

Sabre I think you need to see an optician!!!! Err I learnt to fly on Chippies. As for similarities, err no!!!!!!!!!!

Hehe, well I did say "somewhat" maybe it's just the side angle in the shot in his sig.
Yeah, from the other nice shots your right, especially the wing.
I did some research tho, and the Chippie goes back quite a ways, check this;

SUPER CHIPMUNK RG REFERENCE INFORMATION

The Chipmunk was designed in 1945 to replace the biplane Tiger Moth as a primary trainer. The design engineer, W.J. Jakimuik, had worked for P.Z. L. in Poland before the war and came to Canada via France. The Chipmunk first flew on 22 May 1946. De Havilland Canada built 217, the parent company in the UK built 1,014, and 60 more were built under license in Portugal.

The Chipmunk was used by the RAF, the RCAF, and several other air forces. Many are still flown by private owners. The FS Super Chipmunk RG is representative of several aircraft that were modified for aerobatics flying and features retractible landing gear.

Right SabreHawk - except that the specs you quote are for the Super Chipmunk. The original DHC-1 Chipmunk T.10, the one Ozzy & I flew, had the good old Gipsy Major (often referred to as Dripsy Major) inverted inline engine. http://www.deltaaviation.co.uk/html/aircraft_chipmunk.html
I see it's quoted as being 145 hp.

PS. I do see a certain resemblance with the late Seafire vertical tail surfaces & the classic DH fin & rudder on the Chipmunk. This is the only similarity between the Chippie & the Seafire.
