;D Rgr that!!  Nice shots by the way....  I was in the air doing some aerial photography of the area to post in the airport below for the tourists, hehe... (thanks for putting a smile on my face!) ;D
Hope my excessive chatter didn't interfere with your communication to the tower... LOL!

Looks like your and my card put out about the same as far as water detail goes.

My detail level has stabilized since I started to fly at 1600x1200 in 2002 and CFS2.........for posting I only break them down in Photoshop to 800x600 or less depending on image size......this program does it faithfully to the image quality and I get no moire effect in the reduction......

FS2004 seems to be more graphic-card dependent compared to CFS2 and FS2002...

but if you want to go to St maarten in the new version, i really recommend it. The default scenery even has the famous warning sign in place

If I'm flying low to the ground, I'll average 15-20FPS with medium to high details.  I can't get my aircraft detail to the high postion as I think the card doesn't support it. But I can turn on the scenery detail all the way up and still average 15-20 FPS with anti-aliasing on, and tri-filtering turned on.  Up in the air tho, the clouds are turned up to 100% density?... Hold..   here we go... i got some screen shots of my settings  hehe.. ;D

I think you may get better water detail if you click on the reflections box.  Mine seemed to improve after I did this.

Angel_Maker, your framerate will improve if you set the limiter to 20, and if you DISABLE (yes disable) the antialiasing option in FS. use the one in the graphics card driver instead

Ok.. i disabled anti-aliasing in the fs settings and lowered frame rates to 20, and did see a stabilization in the frame rates, but as far as antialiasing in my graphics card driver, I turned it all the way up to 4XS (Direct #D only).  There are other settings on this tho... anyone know what they do?  Here are the other antialiasing settings... Antialiasing 4X, Antialiasing-Quincunx Antialiasing(tm), Antialiasing 2X, Antialiasing (off), and Antialiasing application (which is what I had it set on before).  Thanks for your help guys.

Hmmm...

This is making my good ole GeForce 3 Ti200 64MB DDR look pretty good. And I was thinking about changing it.

I'm running the latest v44 nVidia drivers which have given quite an improvement I think, but as well as good sharp screen images I've got great reflections, more water detail than you can shake a stick at and resonable FRs

Image

I've had to reduce the pic down to only medium resolution to keep under 100k (it's actually just under 90k) - but I think I'll be looking at cpu before g/card now

Its interesting seeing how different hardware configurations come out with different results.

Rifleman, im supprised at your pics, i run pretty much the same card as you and mine curn up stuff like this with bearly a stutter, is it because you have it on such a stupidly high res, or do you have a smaller processor?

What is it that you're saying ?.....is running 1600x1200 not a good thing to do on a 19" monitor ?......I think I get fine detail level with a minimum of jaggies anywhere......water reflections are not high on my list, but when I see your shots it looks to me like you have no ground shadows on.....I have every slider maxed except for ATC.....
BTW My sys is almost identical to yours but for Ram. Since I run 98SE I only have 512,...
XP1800+ and GeForce 4 440MX SE with a ton of free space in my 60 gigs

Maccers, I've been thinking...maybe its time of day, and sun angle which are giving us a difference ......if you look in my  " Thanks Fireman " post, you can see a definate difference between the first and second shots, if you look at the water reflections.....these two shots were taken on the same approach, with just a height and sun angle difference......? ?....waddaya think ?

Hiya Rifle,

Have to say, with a GeForce 4 (even the MX) I wouldn't be happy with what appears to be your water. Also your closer-up ground textures seem to be a bit smudgy but I might be wrong. Are you running the latest drivers in your setup? The ones I've got only came out VERY recently and they're much better than v43.

I've also got a 19" (screen that is...) and I run 1280 x1024 x32
