Well said Hawker......i was just scanning thru all the replies on this thread to see if anyone actually had put the most appropriate reply that could have been put on this thread.

I bet the martians are all sat at home saying the same thing as go about their daily business - imagine it from their side of the fence.......

'At midnight on the twelfth of August, a huge mass of luminous gas erupted from Earth and sped towards Mars. Across two hundred million miles of void, invisibly hurtling towards us, came the little bouncing ball that was to bring so much humour and excitement to Mars.
As I watched, there was another jet of gas. It was
another bouncy ball, starting on its way.

And that's how it was for the next ten nights. A flare, spurting out from Earth - bright green, drawing a green mist behind it - a beautiful, but somehow disturbing sight. plakplak, the planet searcher, assured me we were in no danger. He was convinced that there could be no living thing on that small, funny looking planet.'

I guess we will find out if Ogilvy was correct on Christmas Day when beagle2 arrives.........

and here's a thought......
Perhaps thats where the weapons of mass destruction are being hidden....................
