Looking great Alex - I love the retro-like paint on the Cessna Caravan and the water effect on the ground isn't too bad either... 8)

nice shots indeed.  but im not convinced about the wet look.  it just does not look like water imo.  i do like the reflective propellor cone however.

A pretty bad effect. it seems the taxiway is flooded and it doesn't look like it rains so bad to grant this much water on the tarmac. Whoever designed this, he or she never tried to make it look real, only flashy. :(

Add to that that I'm ready to wager everything I own against a pat on the shoulder that even looking like they're flooded the taxiways behave the very same way they do when absolutely dry and I'm another step farther away to ever use FSX, let alone spending a fortune to enrich uncle Bill and the hardware princes with my money.

Wow, this tarmac looks exactely like the German highways (autobahn) when it rains. Those roads are so crappy that the water is not evacuated correctly, and by night you can even read the road signs on their reflections  ;D
This definitely looks realistic. As Ashaman wrote, it may be a little bit exagerated regarding the amount of rain currently falling, but anyway I have already seen such a wet floor inreal life, and I appreciate this new effect in FSX.

love the paint on the C208...looks really cool
like daube and ashaman, i think the water effect is a little intense, but with the quality of designers and programmers out there, im sure there will be a fix soon :D

Like others have said, the effect is a little intense considering the light amount of rain, but whatever, I've seen plenty of wet roads, and in my opinion the effect is more than adequate. When it comes to video games (and yes, FS is a video game), I try not to nitpick about silly things like whether or not a wet tarmac looks 100% photorealistic. Just the fact that it's there at all is good enough for me.

But that's just me.

Most of the shots look as if you're taxiing on water, complete with wavelets. The affect is over exagerated and has been said before I bet they rwys etc behave as if they are dry.  A rwy with that amount of water would carry a serious risk of aquaplaning. I would divert!!!

This is how you act and think.

I, on the other hand, try to discern what kind of game I'm playing, instead of generalizing. If I'm playing one of the infinite clones of the ancient quake or a game where the plane I pilot only has to shoot down as many enemies it can before it's shot down itself, then I reason like you myself.

But a simulator is a simulator. As much it's a game it too, it's a special kind of game. If you implement a function in a simulator, this function (be it graphical or whatever) has the duty to look and behave as real-like as the technology you use allows.

Is that thing real-like as the actual technology allows?

The only thing that IS as real-like as possible in FSX is the water of the seas, rivers and lakes. The rest? The rest suffers of the "Oh my gosh we should have done this in fs9 but we're doing it only now so better make it flashy" syndrome.

As UNreal as it gets.

I'm totaly agree with ashaman , If it would be a game ,would be the most boreing game of all, is not like combat fs ,its not to test your skills in the yoke & pedals its a simulation of how to fly a real airplane ,Our only skill its to learn VOR, IFR, to localize Vor freq ILS freq, Its to learn how are you get the flaps down the aproaching speed, deal with downwinds & crosswinds ,its to deal with navigation NAV1 or by GPS ,its ATC ,Its Fuel,It weigh in passengers,Its to make Flight plan destination & arrive VOR Interseccions, I use to go to my local international airports and I have seen ,there isn't no diference from the real world ,I said once THIS IS NOT A GAME.
