Yeovil Air day 2005

Postby cspyro21 » Sun Sep 18, 2005 2:47 pm

For those of you here who missed this years Yeovil Air Day 2005, I have 're-created' a few of the displays.
  I hope you like them:

Image

The wonderful Sea Harrier FA-2, this year one of the naval squadrons are retiring their FA-2's for some GR7's until they recieve the F-35. It was avery loud display, when four of them hovered in front of you it felt as if your eardrums would burst!!

Image

And here is the Hawker Hunter, the one at the show sported a different livery and it was the only airworthy Hunter in the world. It was either the Hunter or the Jaguar  which make the fabled 'Blue Note', but I forget. It was a good display.

Image

The Sepecat Jaguar, retiring form service in 2007. A wonderful plane, which to me shouldn't be retired. That was a noisy display, a wonderful plane to see airborne.

Image

The Westland Lynx, one of about 6 different Helicopter types at the show. My favourite one was the Merlin, but the Lynx makes a good screenshot opportunity.

Image

And what airshow would be complete without the Red Arrows. An immaculate display by them this year, some of the closest passes I've ever seen.  :o

Image

A Spitfire XIX, a reconnaisance aircraft with a migty Griffon engine. She sounded wonderful, and seemed so graceful.

Thanks for looking, hope you like the pics  ;D

Wish I could have seen those Harriers, last time was 1992 :-[

Great idea, was planning to do that for the Brno airshow, got sidetracked....

Cheers all!
Charlie, thanks for correcting me. I thought I had got a few wrong. The model in the screenies is a T.7, and it probably was the F.6 we saw, because they did a Blue Note pass.
The FA.2 is a very nice Harrier, its a shame that they are doing away with her, but as with the Jag, they are getting old.
Andy, nope, its all default scenery, I think the Harrier makes it look nicer...  ;D
Krigl, can I ask where is the Brno Airshow?
Thanks for looking  ;)

Me neither! I was disappointed that the Waddington show this year didn't include the Hunter, or Sea Vixen. Even when you've got Mig-21s and Mig-29s, you still like to see some classic metal!
