Flycatcher

Postby Omag 2.0 » Sun Apr 18, 2004 12:41 pm

Hi,

I've just ended an amazing flight in a oldtimer bird. The Fairey Flycatcher. A fighter/bomber plane from the twenties with a 400 HP radial engine.

No fancy stuff like gps, ILS or autopilot ... Just lots and lots of flying fun! Add some nice surroundings and your up for pure enjoyment.

Found on www.fs2000.org ( it's getting boring, i know ;) )

Zurich airport, a beautifull plane is waiting for me...

Airborn, hopefully the weather will clear up.

Gently turning this old one, she responds ever so vividely
Image

Just look at the detail. Amazing, ain't it?

Time to go down, another nice little airport, close to the Alps
Image

Approaching the runway, floating this bird...
Image

On the runway, letting her roll, don't wanna flip her.
Image

Engine cut, time to sip on cup of coffee - enjoying the rush of the flight
Image

Well, i've got to admitt, flying the old fashion way can be very rewarding.

Sometimes you just have to hear the wind whistling through the wires.
Lovely shots and a nice flight Omag ;)

Another fine example of a rag and tube bi-plane :)

When IFR meant "I follow roads" not Instrument Flight Rules.

When most aviators could not afford a car but a mortorcycle YES.

AND there are still a few GREAT SOLES out there still trying to bring those days back :) :) :)!!!!

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

There's a floatplane version too, but i don't like the floats. Not the same amount of detail.
