Honnest opinion please

Postby Omag 2.0 » Tue Jun 22, 2004 2:41 pm

I've just downloaded the latest Nvidea-driver for my geforce ti 4200. After installing i am amazed that i am able to run the game now with 8x AA and at 1600x1024.

But... i am not quite sure if the improvement i see is due to the fact that the aa works now ( before i got lousy FPS, even with 2x) or due to the change in resolution.

In your opinion, do these shots look better then my regular stuff?

I took em at Heathrow, 100% traffic and rainy weather. FPS a bit dodgy but ...

I still see some zigzag sometimes, don't know if that's possible with aa at 8x.

I have the same videocard yu have in my old computer and I'm sure they are very good, and this last driver really made her work better, I think these pics are very good, I couldn't see any zigzag and the 8x AA

Honestly, they are much, much better. The AI in that first shot looks cool for some reason ;D

I mean, just compare it to this from a while ago. No offence to this pic, it's stunning, but look at the number of jagged edges compared to the above pics.

Ensure the AA box in the games settings is UNTICKED.  Do not let FS handle your AA as it does it in a rather poor manor IMO.

Just force it on your card settings.  Hopefully that will get rid of those last few jaggies.  I noticed on my Ti4600 if I let FS handle I had more jaggies so I let card handle it and its smooth as  ;D

I cannot run 1600x1200 with AA though and hold 22FPS well not unless there are no clouds or complex scenery.  :'(

Thanx for the replies guys!

Well, seems to be an improvement. Textbook example of a guy forgetting the first rule in FS-grafics, keep those drivers updated. I always searched my drivers at Creative labs ( manufacturer of my card) but the Nvidea ones seem to perform way better. Perhaps a tip for others?  ;D
