Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow

Postby Iroquois » Tue May 18, 2004 7:23 pm

This is one gem of an aircraft. We haven't seen a high quality freeware Arrow in a few years. Since FS2000 in fact. This classic Cold War interceptor was concived in the mid 1950s. It was the first aircraft to feature a fly-by-wire control system. It was an all weather fighter designed to intercept USSR nuclear bombers flying over the pole. To complete this job, it had a ordenance bay loaded with AIM-6 Sparrow RADAR guided missiles. The project was cancelled in 1959 due to funding problems thus signaling the downfall of Canada as a real military power.

Parked at CFB Trenton on the shores of Lake Ontario.

This excellent model is by Mike Stone. Get it at www.pmstone.com. Photoreal Toronto scenery is by Flight Team Ontario and you can get it at Avsim. I'm going to attempt to repaint this model in orange dayglow factory test markings so look out for shots of that.

;D ;D ;D
Orenda
Been flyin' the Arrow for a few days now, but have been getting a lot of elevator flutter at different speeds.  Would like to know if you found that at all or is it just me?  I did find the same thing but not to the same degree with the C130H, but could control it by adjusting the airspeed.
I have configured CYTR (Trenton) with most or all of the old and new RCAF/CF aircraft that I can find - flying as AI.
Cheers

I noticed a bug in the Arrow that I'd thought I'd point out. Some people over at Avsim have been saying that it's impossible to land. It can be done. Try turning off the engine. It has the same bug that the KingAir did in FS2002. That being the idle is set too high. I notified Mike Stone so hopefully it will be fixed soon.
