Yosemite as it should be...

Postby Wing Nut » Sun Apr 11, 2004 3:41 am

Alas!  Now I can die a happy man.  Someone has finally gotten Yosemite right for FS.  This is courtesy of FSGenesis.  It's their 9.6m Yosemite Mesh.  You'll need to make a small correction in your FS9.cfg file to get the full effect, but I think you'll agree it's worth it.

At last!  Now Half-Dome looks correct!

El Capitan even has the nose on it!

The trick is to go into the cfg and find where it says:

TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19

Then change it to:

TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21

FS2002 could read 9 meter terrain where FS2004 can not (according to FSGenesis).  Whatever; it works like a charm.

Lovely stuff Kevin. I've downloaded it now and I'm going to install it. I've always wanted to climb there, its a mecca for big-wall nuts like myself. Anyone fancy doing a Camp 4 add-on?

Ozzy ;D

You mean an airstrip on top of one of those mountains together with a small camp site?

Great idea if you ask me,but unfortunately, I don't know how to make sceneries for the FS yet.
Maybe someone else could do it...  ::)

Camp 4 is the base camp for climbers of El Cap. ;)
Its tent city, and home to the great unwashed! Some of the worlds best climbers can be found dossing there 8)
Alas I'm only a fairly good climber, and an expert on finding ice-axes with my bottom ;D

Hell, it's only the largest unbroken granite wall in the world!  We used to go through there and look through binoculars and see the climbers sleeping in their hammocks.  Awesome!  :)
