It is much better with a carrier...

Postby codered » Thu Apr 08, 2004 1:12 am

I downloaded a set of US aircraft carriers off the coast of Thailand.  I am sure the rest of you discovered these.  Here are some shots doing some approaches in the F/A-18E. ;D

Start up.

Taxi out for launch.

Clean up the aircraft.

Turning final for approach.

same here! didn't know about this add on carriers. do they have a working steam catapult? and working arrestor cables? i'm tired landing on normal runways...

oh, does anybody know if there's a download available to install arrestor cables on a normal runway, just to practice a bit...?  ;)

Ken there is a program available here that does the same thing as ArrCab I can't remember its name but its listed as some sort of carrier landing gauges or something. I'll go have a browse now....

Sorry Ken it seems I made a mistake, we haven't got the original file for some reason. Some panels have it.
The file is called rcbco-11 and is by Rob Barendregt and Doug Dawson.
I know its over at no-nodes, and probably at Avsim as well.

Mark ;)

Carrier ops are fine if you have the option of landing in the Hangar Deck.........the only one I know of where you can do that in 2002 is the Abe Lincoln which sits to the west of San Deigo ........ ;)         8)

There is no catapult or cables....  I guess there are addons to represent that, I just haven't looked yet.  I had to cheat a bit to get the plane in the air.  I took the shot, and tried to do a short field take off, but I ended up in the drink. ;D  So my next time off the deck I taxied all the way to the stern and took off from there.  I was able to land fine, but I had to come in real slow and had to do some serious braking action. ;D  Still a load of fun, and different than the 10,000 ft runways. ;D

Is there a carrier addon in Hawaii?

Or does anybody know how to move around carriers?
