S-37 BERKUT

Postby Fitter » Sat Feb 07, 2004 12:41 pm

Hey this model works perfectly in fs9 you just need to download some generic fighter panel or find some S-37 panel for fs9...the fd

Its not that bad, certainly looks worse comparing to the normal Su-27.

The forward sweeping wings are supposed to increase manuverability at low altitude or something like that. Its an interesting design.

More manuverability at all airspeeds, better aerodynamics than rear-swept wings (apparently, dont ask me :))
I think theres a payware version of this for fs9 available somewhere too

FSW is usefull  for Carrier landings

The S-37 not Su-37 i think... Su-37 is the thrust vectoring nozzle vesion of the Su-33. well anyways... the forward swept wings are there to eliminate wing tip stalls that are a very common problem with the backward swept wings. By eliminating wing tip stalls, the S-37 is able to maintain higher angles of attack, and as a result, is able to create higher lift and a tighter turn radius. Ive read somewhere that it can maintain a controlled 45 deg. AoA. while reaching a maximum of 120 degrees AoA while doing the Cobra.  I think the S-37 is the outcome of Russia's research on "Super Agility" :o

Su-37 is the modified Flanker with TVC

This one is the S-37 (or Su-41)

okay, woody ,you're right. it's an interesting design, but imho, sukhois version of applying forward swept wings to an aircraft is just ugly, compared to the X-29.

But the X-29 only has one engine.

In true Soviet style they had to make theirs bigger  8) .
