Dirty Old Beast

Postby Fly2e » Thu Jan 08, 2004 8:33 am

BUSY.. BUSY...BUSY!!!!  ;D   ;D

Anyway, I did manage to fly this dirty old beast out of Heathrow the other night. It is Project Opensky's Boeing 747-437 V3 Air India. She looks as if she has seen some hard time! Still, those four power plants spooled up and lifted us off the ground with tremendous thrust! Here are the shots of the taxi and take off. I hope you like!!

Commencing push back from the gate at London's Heathrow Airport.
Image

Waiting for clearance from the tower on this busy morning.
Image

The tower finally clears us for take off and the huge jet enters the runway.
Image

Pivoting skyward, this hunk of metal leaves the ground!
Image

The morning's pink light makes for a beautiful take off.
Image

The huge beast screams over head as the gear starts to retract.
Image

Commencing our turn, we head to our destination. Please enjoy your flight.  ;D

Thanks for watching and comments welcomed!!

Lovely shots Dave.
But isn't it a bit exagerating to call the 744 old?
I mean after all, it's the 'youngest' member of the 747 family ;)

Thanks alot guys. It is nice to be away for a bit and get such great responses!!  ;D   ;D   ;D

Silent, I am sorry. I usually make a back up of the original jpg's before croppiong and resizing, I didn't with this one. ::)  But I am flattered you asked! ;D

Here is one more of her leaving St. Marteen. She needed ALL the runway!!  ;D
