Video Clip of River Visual 19

Postby Super_Game » Fri Jan 02, 2004 11:14 am

Hello, and happy new year guys! I have made a demonstration clip of a United Airlines Airbus A320 doing a River Visual approach on Runway 19 at Washington National (KDCA). I hope you enjoy! Here's the link:

Nicely done! What did you use to capture the video?! It almost looks like you filmed your monitor with a video camera!

I have been constantly looking for a good program to capture video and would love to know what you used...

The best freeware one I have found so far is FRAPS but the files are just huge so there is no way I could ever upload it anywhere!

Thanks

Thanks for your comments! I simply used my Cannon Digital Camera and filmed my monitor. I did it so it can look more realistic (eg. shaking while landing). I then used the default Windows Movie Maker to reduce the movie size. Just simple stuff...  ;)

Is that the famous LDA approach into Ronald Reagan National?

Nice flying mate  :)

Well, I got this message when I tried to access the link.

The web site you are trying to access has exceeded its allocated data transfer. Visit our help area for more information.

And if you are wanting to add a bit of realism (shaking, etc) you can simply download Active Camera, which, along with shaking the camera in the cockpit allows you to make a visual inspection of your aircraft before takeoff.  Its here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2002utilities_gen2.htm

just for fun I tried the same approach.
Haha, how embarassing  ;D
No charts, no visual references no nothing. I tried to fly your pattern over the river, but the A330 (only airbus I have ;D ) is quite bigger than the 320 so I had to make wider turns...I landed on the runway though, but it was not that pretty, kicked out right rudder, lowered left wing to counter that damn crosswind and somewhat got the aircraft aligned. Landed some 300 feet after the touchdown markers, but had to step on the brakes to stop the plane before I ran out of runway. Poor virtual pax ;)

Lovely approach though, me will keep on practicing  ;D
Great stuff!

Ok, I think Geocities is just not the right site for now. I will try to upload it to SimV tonight so you guys can watch it without any difficulties. Sorry about that, guys.

Please do post it here at SimV!  I would love to see it.

I was in DC several months ago and flew into DCA.  What an Approach!  I have no idea how to do that right-I usually smoke the wingtips!

It's fun to see all the ac flying in and making huge turns as you tour around!

I believe Active camera is still freeware for FS 2002.
However, if you're using FS 2004, then active camera will only work around the Seattle area, or else you'll have to pay for the full version :)

That is exactly what I mean. I am using FS2004, so tough luck for me...  :(

Anyways, it has been uploaded here at SimV and you can check it out under the FS2004 Misc section.
