EB-72 Mocassin Prototype

Postby Travis » Fri Dec 19, 2003 4:46 pm

My first from-scratch creation is nearing completion.  I still have a long way to go, but most of it is done.

The EB-72 Mocassin is a large commuter/business jet modeled after a design proposed by Archedyne Systems several years ago.  The Archedyne concept was never completed, but about a year ago, Brian Gladden made a version.  This is my version, which is considerably beefier than his.

Here she is sitting on the tarmac, waiting to taxi.  You can see that the pilots still lack textures.

And below it has most of the moving parts open/extended.  This includes all the usual control surfaces, as well as two sets of exits (front and rear), leading edge and trailing edge flaps, spoilers on the wings and engines and thrust reversers.

The light system includes four landing lights embedded in the wing fairings and three in the nosecone just forward of the cockpit, as well as two red taxilights in the leading edge of the pontoons.

The cockpit is full DVC, with many moving parts, many of which can be seen below.  The two dark-handled levers in the center are obviously the throttles and the one to the left of them is the flaps lever.  At the very top in the center is the brake lever and below that are the gear and water rudder.  There will be a working radio stack at the very bottom (gray boxes with white knobs), which I have yet to map out.  Both the panels (small one outboard of the larger) will work, as will . . .

. . . the center-mounted HUD.  I have yet to decide if the regular gauges placed around the main panel will be included or not.  Any suggestions would be appreciated, here.

There are three more shots of the back of the cockpit and the gear, but I think this thread is already a bit long, so thank you for taking the time to read this *LOOONNNGG* description, and a Merry Christmas to one and all! ;D

a very nice model.
some custom gauges would look much better than the stock ones.

I (right now) have had no time to do any custom gauge designing.  But that most likely won't be a problem, seeing as PSW has taken up this aircraft as one of their future projects.  So they will have the trouble of figuring all that crap out! ;D
