hello everyone!... it's been a long time...(in fact 1 year since the last time), these last few years were really turbulent in my life (with many interruptions in my hobbies), and changes of circumstances that have occupied a lot of my time....
...anyway, little by little things are stabilizing, but now with "dosed" time. I haven't forgotten my projects, and that's why today I was releasing this Trojan texture pack
first of all, I wanted to make a kind of mini review about the T-28 Trojan (the real trojan, and the "A" model of Ant's)
about the REAL T-28 Trojan
...what an injustice... it is an excellent aircraft, many people say it is excellent in its flying qualities... but no matter what it does... it is overshadowed by the Texan (the original one) and Mentor... (it is also true that several pilots of Trojans complain of having problems with its engine, which is particularly "delicate", and the exaggerated fuel consumption)
I completely agree with the article that is in the link below...

(If you are interested in seeing flight reports of old aircraft there are more at this link:)

there is a kind of caste system, or steps in the great hall of Olympus of warbirds (and aviation in general).... where at the top is the Mustang, the Spit, the 747, etc, and as if it were a water fountain with steps, the adulation goes down to less and less ICONIC airplanes... and it seems that the Trojan is in a somewhat distant, dimly lit and little traveled room of this hall.
(i am not against the mustang, it is really beautiful and with an attractive figure. i like the thunderbolt more and i feel that many place it in a second step. what i mean is that sometimes so much adulation to a model does not allow us to see other models with its qualities).
the Trojan "A" model feels (according to this "hall of fame") like a Huey "A" model, like the 737-100, like the very early versions of the bf-109, ...in short, it doesn't get the glory that its upgraded versions did.
its figure doesn't help either, obviously i couldn't compare it against the attractive, super sexy, sculpted body of the Mustang or the Spitfire...sure, it's a trainer not a fighter...but even the Mentor feels prettier. in fact it feels like the big tall girl with little femininity in the classroom (besides being unattractive, it's hard to hide). and that's not even talking about the low horsepower compared to upgraded versions.(800hp vs 1400hp in later versions) (two bladed propellers vs three bladed propellers)
...but that's the point of all this, YOU have the A model, and the more you see it, the more you fly it, the more you live it... you'll love it... .yeah, to hell with the caste system.
because...if you have the A model and not another version, for you there is no such thing as 1400hp, you don't regret not having what you don't know exists. The 800pp (ponies of power) will give you the pleasant sensation of flying a trainer without the complications of other models, you will be more focused on enjoying the flight than on managing systems. (in real life, especially the two-bladed model A, from the outside it sounds like a lawnmower, like a farm tractor. Very nice sound)
its figure, big as it is, is unique, its cockpit is a living room because of how spacious it is, compared to the telephone booth that the Mentor or Mustang have as a cockpit. (you don't get into the Mentor, you "dress" the Mentor)
and since it is a trainer (in fact, the cockpit was made to look something like the F-86 Sabre cockpit, so that pilots would get into that plane) it has excellent handling qualities (I will explain this below), its long, straight wings make it very easy to handle... it has no comparison.
yes, the more you look at it, fly it, the Trojan model A will not make you feel like you are missing out on something better, ... on the contrary, it will make you feel at home,
...and you will say "to hell with the hall of fame"
about the Ant's Trojan Model A
I think everyone knows it, but I wanted to describe it a little... I guess if you have the B, C or D models you won't miss the A model... but if you can only access freeware the A model by Ant´s, (personal opinion here) I don't think you'll feel the need to have more...
It is exquisitely detailed, and has a great interactive manual to do a complete power-up of the plane, including many pre-flight details.
The only difference (software) is that the A model only has animation enabled for the pilot, not for his companion (unlike the other models), that's it, otherwise it is fully functional.
including its "wear" and "maintenance" system. (parts can wear out and you have to replace or maintain them)
As for its flight characteristics, personally there are few planes in FSX that I have felt a real pleasure flying, I don't know how to explain it, but the TROJAN is "delightfully" pleasant to fly, especially on the final approach to the runway... few models in FSX have given me that feeling... (I don't know if the real Trojan is like that, if it was Ant's, if it was a bug... I don't know, but it's great)
... it doesn't feel like it's a model floating towards the runway... it's like it's a big piece of creaking and clanking metal, that you feel the weight and gives the sensation of mass, but it also feels VERY smooth, you may feel like you make a lot of corrections on the approach (moving all that mass)... but it's SO good that you're going to enjoy the corrections, in fact with corrections and the sensation of weight, it seems to feel very precise, you land it where you want, and it feels like you're never going to finish the approach until you touch down where you wanted to.
(it flies VERY slow, courtesy of its huge flaps)
...even when stalling it's nice. (try it)
But... don't let it catch you! It seems "tamed", but if you make an aggressive approach, you'll find that it can't "drain" or "bleed" the extra speed....courtesy of NOT having airbrakes...(models B, C and D have them) incredibly even though it doesn't look aerodynamic, and feels like something heavy (it's not really heavy, it's just not very powerful, but you feel it that way), it's efficient, and it doesn't lose speed quickly (you can't lower the flaps until you reduce speed, or you'll damage the plane
I wanted to say a few words about the textures that usually come with some models (it's not an accusation or a complaint, since it's freeware I can't complain)... but I feel that the creators of some brands don't put emphasis on creating personalized liveries... it always seems to be the same: liveries of air forces, of a known real plane and that's it!!, it seems as if I were flying a plane "belonging to someone". There are no "unregistered" liveries, or ones that imply that "you are the owner"
It also happens sometimes that the community becomes complacent and doesn't want to make more liveries
(there are excellent planes, that have almost no community-made liveries, and people simply resign themselves to the little they have)
About the Trojan A model... there are almost no other community-made liveries... (it comes with air force liveries, and none "privately owned") (of course there are for the more well-known B, C and D, but for the A few, and none "unregistered")
That's why I decided to compensate for this...
