Looking good my friend. I just wish the Airport buildings at Lillooet really were that complex. The truth is, There's Bob's trailer and Steve next door who owns the Mooney parked out front. The '56 C172 doesn't fly, the tires are all flat and there's all sorts of wasp nests. Then of course the toilets and the pumps. That's it. O and a CF Buffalo came in the other week when it was 40C and wrecked the end of the runway when it turned around. That's it I'm afraid, so your pics make it look really attractive. Thats the way I fly to Pemberton, down Seton lake to Anderson lake, past D'arcy and into the Lillooet River valley. Sure beats climbing to 10,000' over the mountains.

I knew that name sounded familiar! I just couldn't think of where I'd seen it.

I remember looking it up on Google maps a few years back, just to see where in the name of heck it was.

My opinion was that it looked like an interesting place, but not one that I'd want to live in - too remote.


I just picked the two airfields off the Plan-G map at random. Or so I had thought.

About a third to one half of my "flying" is done that way.



The "local" scenery is what came with Orbx 's Northern Rocky Mountain scenery.

As to the looks of the towns, I recall hearing, or reading some where, that an artist never paints an ugly girl, they always paint her as pretty.

This scenery was part of Orbx 's Northern Rocky Mountain scenery, as I said. As such you need the Orbx FTX Global package.

Do you have that, the Orbx FTX Global that is?

During our Motorcycle discussions, Log, and like OAM, I looked up your residence on Google Sat Maps some time ago, and came to the same conclusion...its definitely a very remote and wild place!

Not many shops around to buy stuff from!

I wonder what led you there?

Thanks to Google streets view, I think that Seton Lake looks almost as good as your painting.




Now your "downtown shopping district" may be a little wanting.

But it sure looks peaceful.

However, from my time in Minnesota, I'd bet that you have only two seasons: winter, and road repair.

I'm always curious , Anthin, why folks leave their country of origin to live somewhere else permanently?

I haven't ever gone to another country, even for a short holiday!
(Apart for two years forced labour in the British Army; National Service in 1955)... ...!

Well, thanks for visiting my little town. The name Lillooet means "God's Country" in Statlimx language, or so my intoxicated friends claim. I moved here when I retired to get away from shops, traffic lights and parking meters. I can walk from the old bridge at one end of the town to the 23 camels bridge in an hour. I spend the best part of the year here, preferring to spend the winter months south of the borders in Mexico way. Curiously enough, there's not much of a winter to speak about in Lillooet. A skiff of snow, and about -6C for January. We don't get much rain either and the summer temperatures can reach +40C during July/August. Right now it's a balmy 32, I just spent the last 2 weeks in my trailer (Caravan) at the free camp ground at Seton Lake, fishing for Bull Trout. I caught only 1 keeper (Over 60cm) before the season finished Aug 1. However I did have lots of fun catch and release, rainbows and Dolly Varden. I'm home now and fishing for sturgeon again at the bottom of my yard on the Fraser River. Last week there was a Sturgeon Derby which I was disqualified from due to my property being on the river. 52 sturgeon caught, biggest was just shy of 9ft. long. I don't have any current pictures, but the local paper had one of the winner. Here's one from last year.
