If you have Accu-Feel, tone it down.
The nice thing about Accu-Feel is that, unless you want it to, the settings you make are just for the aircraft vehicle that you are using.

Prepar3d settings

Control the winds
Not hard to do in Prepar3d. Just drag that little mark for wind direction, and adjust the wind speed too.

Water settings
Setting the Water Detail to Ultra made a real difference when the ship was off Hawaii, but little difference when sailing in Lake Geneva.

Selecting Bathymetry makes no observable difference.
