Lancaster, PA. A sundown takeoff

Postby OldAirmail » Sat Sep 14, 2013 7:49 pm

With my FSX setup getting back to normal I've been reinstalling most of my airplanes and scenery.

This was shot after climbing to altitude from Lancaster, PA on a short flight to Harrisburg, Pa.

It wasn't planed but everything was perfect. On one side I had a 3/4 moon with stars starting to come out, and on the other the setting sun.

Both Lancaster and Harrisburg airports are free downloaded airport scenery (downloaded last year from somewhere) so I wanted to enjoy take offs and landings from each.

This is the stock FSX Barron taking off from Harrisburg, about to head back to Lancaster.

Just incase anyone wants to make this flight in their favorite plane I recreated the flight to get the right location/time .

Takeoff from Lancaster, PA KLNS heading east.
Date Sept 14,2013.
Time 7:57PM (1857 hours).
My plane is a Bonanza V35B from Carenado.

Switch to an outside port view and drop your perspective to below the aircraft, i.e. Look up.

That was my first surprise.

The moon is the 1024 x 1024 moon (FSX HD Moon Texture V3.0) from "Fly Away".

After gaining altitude turn left to 225/230 degrees. Enjoy the sunset.

Thanks. The moon on one side and the sunset on the other were just a fluke.

The ground texture is Orbx FTX Global, but the weather is plain old FSX. The moon, as I said, is an add-on. One that is always nice to see, as it adds to the realism.
