Blooming Heck!

Postby todayshorse » Wed May 30, 2012 4:56 am

Greetings fellow screenshot fans!

So here we go looking at 'bloom' after Daube pointed me in the direction of just which version to use after the one i downloaded messed up my FSX...

Tried various settings, as it came - which was a bit too much, 'Nick N's' settings which i found far too bland and didnt really change anything other than slightly darken the screen a tad, and finally this version of settings which i found on-line somewhere. I'm pretty impressed!

Figured out the key combinations on my imac keyboard so this is the first time i've actually got this working..

Anyway, check it ;)

I've got it running on my FS 2004 (Caps + F12 to switch it on and off).
It certainly brightens up my ground scenery nicely, and the blue sky, bit it does rather "wash-out" the detail of my clouds (a bit too aggressive!).
I only do day flights, so it would be nice to get a setting which just brightens up my day-time scenery textures...I need lots of Summer Sunshine!

So yours brightens things? Hmmm i find mine darkens things ever so slightly, but these shots are from a 'dawn' setting.

It was the aircraft i was interested in seeing with it active, it adds a certain somthing, that makes them look like proper objects rather than flat pixel things i think. I wasnt really after that real 'soft' look ive seen elsewhere though.

Im curious to see the effects during various daylight settings (i dont fly at night either, i dont see the point!)  8-)

Fantastic comparison shots !! The first couple are especially impressive, if you ask me.
Concerning the darkening etc... one would have to take a look into the ColorCorrection (I think) section of the enbseries.ini. There are one or two parameters in there which have explicit names, like "darkening_amount_day" or something close to that. These can get negative values too, to make everything brighter instead of darker, and vice-versa.

Todayshorse, glad to see you're enjoying the bloom. Now, try to get into a dark-cockpit plane, and set the time to dawn or dusk. See the colors!
