Soaring some more

Postby Jayhawk Jake » Mon Jan 16, 2012 1:58 am

I'm starting to get used to CumulusX!  I just need to find the right weather for soaring, I don't get many thermals.  I did some ridge flying in Hawaii this evening (morning? :P), managed to get a flight of about an hour and a half from a 2000 ft tow, and I could have kept going had I just turned back to the ridge again.

Started out with scary weather for a plane with no artificial horizon

Then I changed to better weather, and went ridge flying

That's all I got, I forgot to take pics.  I will take more next time ;)

Excellent shots, Jake... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Don't forget, FS 2004 Chums, that lots of excellent versions of "Soaring Scenery" can be obtained in the Sim V library.
I have the scenery installed for California, but if you fancy trying it out for Hawaii have a peek here...

Hawaii Soaring Scenery: NAMW

http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1 ... egoryId=31

Just add it (NAMW) in the usual way, to your Add-on Scenery Library... :)....it works fine!

It provides visible, special thermal clouds to the scenery which give you thermal lift when you approach them.
(They appear everywhere you fly, but if you want to ignore them, just "un-tick" them in your Scenery Library... :)...!

Paul....Soaring Somewhere... ;D...!

...and for an excellent FS 2004/FSX Glider with a Variometer ...Brightstar Swift..>>> http://simviation.com/1/browse-Gliders+ ... ites-130-2
